Nothing slaps more than a sausage roll on any day, but a cheesy jalepeno popper inspired sausage roll is bound to be a winner.
It’s simple and comes together in no time. Serve it with your favourite dipping sauce and you’ve got the festive snack of all festive snacks.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • ½ onion, diced

  • 1 clove garlic, diced

  • 6 pork sausages, de cased

  • 3 fresh jalapeno, finely chopped

  • ½ cup pickled jalapenos, chopped

  • Sea salt

  • Ground black pepper

  • 1 packet of puff pastry

  • flour (for dusting)

  • 1 large egg (beaten)

  • Black & white sesame seeds

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 190c.
  • In a pan, heat the olive oil over low heat. Add the onion, jalapenos and garlic and cook until they are translucent and soft. Set aside.
  • Remove the sausage meat from the casings and place it in a bowl, discarding the casings. Add the pickled jalapenos, salt, and pepper, as well as the onion and garlic. Mix together well.
  • Remove the puff pastry from the fridge and place it on a floured surface. Cut it in half. Place half of the sausage mixture in a long row down the center of each half.
  • Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg and then fold the pastry over the sausage and seal the edges. Seal the ends carefully as well. Take a knife and make slashes halfway through the roll all the way down its length (you should end up with about eight segments). This will help the sausage meat cook all the way through the roll. Brush the pastry all over with egg, sprinkle the sesame seeds and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the sausage is cooked and the pastry is fully puffed and golden.

OMG!!!! I will definitely be making these for the festive season gatherings! Mm, mm, mm! Love that one didn't have to make the pastry or Pork filling from scratch! Me is all for shortcuts as long as it doesn't influence the deliciousness factor! :-) Thx so much Coco and J! You two are just ADORABLE xxx
